Pastoral Care
St Saviour's Pastoral Team
We pride ourselves on our pastoral care and how we take care of one another. Our dedicated pastoral team work throughout the school, with children and staff, to break down barriers to learning and ensure that our school is a supportive and inclusive place to learn. We want our children to be resilient and independent. We support all our children in managing friendships, in developing positive mental health and wellbeing strategies, in developing social skills and showing respect for themselves and each other. The pastoral team, and all school staff, work closely to ensure that every child feels safe, happy and valued.
Our pastoral team can offer a range of support, such as:
- Advice and support about your child’s behaviour at home or at school;
- Advice and support about your child’s punctuality and attendance;
- Other concerns you may have relating to your child that you would like school to help with;
- Supporting you or someone you know who is suffering domestic abuse;
- Concerns about any child’s welfare;
- Supporting you to talk to your child’s teacher or to the school about any concerns or queries you may have.
- Helping you to access information about difficulties you may be experiencing such as money worries, relationships or health;
- Offering group work and one-to-one sessions with children in school.
The pastoral team can help your child to:
- Express their views
- Raise self-esteem and confidence
- Encourage them to achieve
- Support them in developing friendships
- Manage pressures and difficult times in their lives
- Learn about their social and emotional skills and how to improve these
- Encourage and promote good school attendance
- Manage feelings following bereavement and loss
Early Help
At St. Saviour's C of E Primary School, we understand that family life can sometimes be difficult and challenging. From time to time, there may be situations where you feel you need some help and support. In these times, we can provide what is known as the 'Early Help Offer'.
Early help means providing support as soon as a difficulty emerges, at any point of a child’s life. Our early help support is tailored around individual pupils and their families.
Early Help Assessments are offered when it has been identified that a family requires support from school or external agencies. EHAs are a way of bringing all services together in a multi-agency approach to help a family and ensure continued support for the child and the family unit.
For a list of universal early help that is available for families, go to the From Birmingham with Love page. Or download the leaflet below. It is available in a variety of languages.
Family Hubs bring together a range of organisations and professionals to offer early help services, advice, guidance, and support.
