St. Saviour’s school is part of an initiative run by UNICEF UK. We are in the process of securely placing the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) at the heart of our school ethos and curriculum. 

Being awarded the Bronze: Rights Committed award earlier this year, we are now working towards Silver: Rights Aware. There are four key areas of impact for children at a Rights Respecting school; wellbeing, participation, relationships and self-esteem. The difference that a Rights Respecting School makes goes beyond the school gates, making a positive impact on the whole community. 

By promoting the values of respect, dignity and non-discrimination, our children’s self-esteem and wellbeing is boosted and they are less likely to suffer from stress. A child who understands their rights understands how they and others should be treated and their sense of self-worth is strengthened.

Generation Earthshot: Clean Our Air

The Rights Respecting group joined in with the mission of the 'Earthshot Prize: to discover the best solutions to help repair our planet'. We presented our ideas, on stage, at Millennium Point to a panel of judges and 15 other east Birmingham schools.
