Reading Workshops

Year 3

We were thrilled to welcome Year 3 parents to our recent reading workshop, where we dived into the exciting world of reading and learning! The session highlighted the power of reading at home, with expert tips on how to support your child’s literacy journey. Parents also got a front-row seat to a live reading of The Iron Man by our Year 3 teachers, bringing the book to life in a way that captivated everyone through fluency and prosodic reading. It was an amazing chance to see first-hand how we approach reading in the classroom. After the session, families took part in fun, interactive activities inspired by the book, making it a memorable experience for both parents and children. What a great way to share the joy of reading together!

A huge thank you to all the parents who joined us for the reading workshop! Your energy and involvement made the session a fantastic success. We’re excited to keep working together to inspire and support our young learners on their literacy journey.

Year 2

We recently hosted a reading workshop for Year 2 parents, offering valuable insights into the importance of reading. The session covered key research findings, expectations from the national curriculum, and practical strategies to support reading at home. Parents also enjoyed a live reading session led by our Year 2 teachers, featuring the book The Disgusting Sandwich. It was a wonderful opportunity to engage with our approach to reading and learning.  Following the session, parents engaged in a range of activities with their children, all based on the book.

A big thank you to all the parents who joined and participated in the workshop. We truly appreciate your involvement and look forward to continuing our partnership in helping our young learners thrive in their literacy development!

Year 1

We were excited to welcome Year 1 parents to our recent Reading Workshop, where we came together to explore the crucial role of reading in early childhood development and share practical strategies for supporting children’s literacy at home.  The workshop also included a demonstration of a reading lesson, where our Year 1 teachers showed parents how we engage pupils in reading activities. The lesson featured the popular book Oi Frog!—a fun, rhyming story that had everyone laughing. Parents were able to observe how we use phonics, word recognition, and comprehension strategies in action.  Parents and children also worked together on a hands-on phonics activity. This interactive session allowed families to practice blending sounds and forming words, reinforcing the connection between home and school learning.

We would like to extend our gratitude to all the parents who attended and contributed to the workshop. We look forward to continuing to collaborate with you in supporting our young learners on their literacy journey!
