Pastoral Care

St Saviour's Pastoral Team

We pride ourselves on our pastoral care and how we take care of one another. Our dedicated pastoral team work throughout the school with all children and staff to break down barriers to learning and ensure that St Saviour's is a supportive and inclusive place to learn. We want our children to be resilient and independent and support them in managing friendships, developing positive mental health and wellbeing strategies, developing their social skills and showing respect for themselves and one another. The Pastoral Team and all staff work closely to ensure that every child feels safe and valued.

Our Pastoral Team can offer support in a range of situations, such as:

  • Advice and support about your child’s behaviour at home or at school.
  • Advice and support about your child’s punctuality and attendance.
  • Other concerns you may have relating to your child that you would like school to support.
  • Supporting you or someone you know who is suffering domestic abuse.
  • Concerns about any child’s welfare.
  • Support you to talk to your child’s teacher or to the school about any concerns or queries you may have.
  • Help you to access information about difficulties you may be experiencing such as money worries, relationships, health.
  • Offering group work and one-to-one sessions with children in school

The Pastoral Team can help your child to:

  • Express their views.
  • Raise self-esteem and confidence
  • Encourage them to achieve.
  • Support them in developing friendships.
  • Manage pressures and difficult times in their lives
  • Learn about their social and emotional skills and how to improve these.
  • Encourage and promote good school attendance.
  • Manage feelings following bereavement and loss.

Early Help

At St Saviours Primary School we understand that family life can sometimes be difficult and challenging. From time to time, there may be situations where you feel you need some help and support. In these times, we can provide what is known as the Early Help Offer.

Early Help means providing support as soon as a difficulty emerges, at any point of a child’s life. Our Early Help support is tailored around individual pupils and their families.

Early Help Assessments are offered when it has been identified that a family requires support from school or external agencies. EHAs are a way of bringing all services together in a multi-agency approach to support the family and ensure continued support for the child and family.

For a list of universal early help that is available for families, go to the From Birmingham with Love page. Or download the leaflet at the bottom of this page. It is available in a variety of languages.
